Championship Golf Course

Break free from flat coastal golf at the Beau, rated 4 Stars in Golf Digest's "Best Places to Play". Elevations changes up to 75 feet and scads of bunkers place our 6,709 yard, 18-hole championship course among the more dramatically landscaped in the southeast. Carved out of long-needle pine forests, the Beau offers a championship-style layout that incorporates wooded hills, rolling dunes, undulating valleys and river frontage on eight different holes. Attacking the flags from the rough and pine straw can be a perilous undertaking, so golfers are tested to find the fairways off the tee. The greens, made of a genetically engineered form of bermudagrass called ultradwarf TifEagle, are known for their smoothness and speed. The countless elevation changes, blind shots, sand and water hazards, combined with narrow fairways and slick greens, create an experience that offers even the avid golfer a challenging round.

From hats and golf accessories to clubs and apparel, our friendly and professional staff will help you find just what you’re looking for. Custom clubs can be ordered or made on site. We offer full KZG rental sets, club repair and North Carolina handicap registration as well. Gift cards available!

J. Banks Guyton

Head Professional

J. Banks Guyton has been a Class A PGA Professional for 40+ years. He is a noted playing professional, a former Carolinas PGA Senior Player of the Year, and a Virginia PGA Player of the Year. He has competed in the US Senior Open and several times in the PGA Seniors Championship and the Western Open in Chicago.

Banks has also served his profession admirably as Head Golf Professional at Williamsburg Country Club in Williamsburg, Virginia, South Bend Country Club in South Bend, Indiana, Echo Farms Golf and Country Club in Wilmington, NC and now the Head Golf Professional at Beau Rivage Golf & Resort.

For the past 7 years, Banks has dedicated himself to teaching others the game that has brought him so much enjoyment and satisfaction. In addition to his passion for teaching, Banks has become a professional clubfitter and clubmaker, specializing in Single Frequency Matched Clubs.

Brad Hagler

Assistant Professional

Brad Hagler has been the First Assistant at Beau Rivage for the past 4 years. He is our Pro Shop Manager and also teaches the game of golf. Brad has passed the PGA Player's Ability test and is now entered in their Professional Golf Course management Program as an apprentice to J. Banks Guyton, working towards becoming a Class A Professional. Brad gives much of his free time as an instructor with Wilmington's First Tee program where he teaches children of all levels of play the game of golf.
